Model Row Options
Cash Flow
The Cash Flow option is used to handle data aggregation involving currency values when working across different hierarchical levels in your model. It ensures that currency conversions are applied during aggregation from lower-level nodes to higher-level nodes when currencies differ.
Purpose
Enable this option if the data:
Relates to monetary values entered in the currency defined for a specific node (e.g., Site, Middle-Level, or Division).
Requires aggregation with automatic currency conversion during roll-ups to higher-level nodes.
Key Behavior
With the Cash Flow Option Checked:
Currency Conversion Applied:
When data from a lower-level node (e.g., Site) is aggregated into a higher-level node (e.g., Division) where the currency differs, the values are converted into the currency of the higher-level node.
Example:
A cash flow row is defined at the Site level.
At the Division level, this row aggregates cash flow values from multiple sites.
If the Division's currency is different from the Site's currency, the values are automatically converted during aggregation.
With the Cash Flow Option Unchecked:
No Currency Conversion:
Data is aggregated without currency conversion.
Instead, the values are summed directly, assuming they are in the same unit.
When to Use the Cash Flow Option
Use this option when working with financial data that spans nodes with different currencies to ensure accurate aggregation.
Leave this option unchecked when all nodes share the same currency, or when currency conversion is not required.
Summary of Behavior
Cash Flow Option | Currency Conversion | Aggregation Behavior |
---|---|---|
Checked | Applied | Converts lower-level values to the higher-level node's currency before summing. |
Unchecked | Not Applied | Sums the values directly without any currency conversion. |
