Investment Map
The Investment Map is the graphical view of your asset base. It stacks every asset belonging to the entity you have selected and plots the investments they generate, so you can see the total investment need per year at a glance instead of reading it out of a grid. It is the fastest way to spot the years where capex piles up and to compare the investment profile of one part of the business against another.
What does the Investment Map show?
The Investment Map draws one box per investment, stacked by year, for whatever entity you have selected in the navigation tree. That entity can be a machine, a sub-industry, a site, a division or the whole group, so the same view answers both "when does this machine need money" and "what does the group need to invest, year by year".
Two reference lines can be added on top of the investment boxes:

Gross Operating Assets (GOA) | The gross value of the operating assets over time, giving the investment need a size to be judged against. |
Operating Cash Flow Demand (OCFD) | The operating cash flow the entity needs to generate, used as the Y axis reference when you want to see investment need against cash generation. |
The Investment Map is opened from a link on the nodes of the Assets tree, inside your Base Alternative, Strategic Building Block or Strategic Alternative.
How do I change the level of detail?
You can move up and down the hierarchy without leaving the map, which is useful when a peak in one year needs explaining.
Open your alternative and go to Assets, then open the Investment Map.
In the navigation tree on the left, select the entity you want to look at: Division > Site > Sub-industry > Category.
In the top right corner, use the Level up and Level down controls, shown as arrows and magnifying glasses.
Level down gives a more detailed view of the same entity, Level up a more aggregated one.
How do I show the Gross Operating Assets line?
Go to Assets and open the Investment Map.
Navigate in the tree to the entity you want to view: Division > Site > Sub-industry > Category.
Above the Investment Map grid, click the greyed-out GOA box to toggle the Gross Operating Assets line on.
How do I show the Operating Cash Flow Demand line?
Go to Assets and open the Asset Ledger view.
Navigate to the entity in the tree: Division > Site > Sub-industry > Category.
Click the gear symbol in the top right corner.
Tick Use OCFD for Y axis and click Save.
Activate the reference by clicking the greyed-out REF box above the Investment Map grid.
💡 Info: Operating Cash Flow Demand (OCFD) is switched on from the Asset Ledger settings, not from the Investment Map itself. That is why the first steps take you to the ledger.
