Chart Series Customizations
Capex Strategy report charts support a set of customization options that give users control over how chart series appear in reports and presentations. These options are available on line charts across all reports levels.
Custom Name, Color and Line Style
Each series in a chart can be given a custom display name, color and line style. This is particularly useful when alternative names in the system are technical or unclear, and the chart needs to be shared with stakeholders or included in a presentation.
To customize a series:
Open a report chart in a presentation folder or from the report list.
Enter settings from context menu or by shortcut E and navigate to Series tab.
Set a custom name to override the default alternative name displayed in the legend.
Choose a custom color for the series line.
Select a line style (solid, dashed, etc.) to visually distinguish series from each other.
Custom appearance settings are saved per report and persist across sessions. They apply consistently whenever the report is viewed.
Note: Pre-defined series like BA retain their default color (black) for newly added series, but can still be customized.
Upcoming improvement: Currently, custom series names may appear truncated in the edit field as the text input does not wrap. This will be fixed in the nearest upcoming version.
Custom Sorting of Series
By default, chart series are ordered according to the alternative list. Users can override this and define a custom display order that better fits their analysis or presentation needs.
To reorder series:
Open the chart series settings.
Drag and drop series into the preferred order.
Save the configuration.
The custom sort order is saved per report and applied consistently each time the chart is opened. When a project or presentation folder is duplicated, custom sort order is carried over to the copy.
Series Visibility Persistence
When analyzing charts, users often click on a series in the legend to hide it temporarily. Previously, this hidden state was lost when navigating to another chart and returning back, requiring the user to hide them again.
The system now remembers which series are hidden. If a user hides a series by clicking on it in the legend, that series remains hidden when navigating between charts within the same context. This avoids repetitive toggling and supports smoother comparison workflows.
Visibility state is also preserved when duplicating presentation folders.
Behavior on Duplicate
When a project or presentation folder is duplicated, all chart series customizations are copied to the new instance. This includes:
Custom names, colors and line styles
Custom sort order
Series visibility state
