The logic behind Strategic Alternatives

Strategic Alternatives are central to the use of Weissr, let's explain a bit more how they work

A Strategic Alternative (SA) is a combination of changes made to the Base Alternative (BA). The context in which it is important to understand SAs is this one:

The BA is a digital reproduction of the business system (sites, assets, investments, costs, revenues..) as it stands currently, and its future trajectory going forward if things are kept as they are ("as is going concern"). To this BA, we want to apply certain changes to hopefully improve this future trajectory. To do so, we need to try different alternatives and evaluate the effects of the changes that shape them, which can be tedious and difficult to do. That's where Weissr comes handy, by making this iteration much easier, in two steps:

  1. Weissr allows its users to easily create versions of parts of the BA, materializing as Strategic Building Blocks (SBBs), consisting of changes made to one part of the system, with the BA as a starting point.

  2. Once the users created an array of those SBBs, Weissr makes it easy to combine them in any combination possible, forming then a SA showing a different (hopefully better) trajectory for the whole business system mentioned earlier, which can then be easily compared with the BA.
