How to modify the depreciation years of an asset

A specific asset's value depreciates over a different time span than the default 10-year period in Weissr, here's how to change it

  1. Make sure to be in the Base Alternative/Strategic Building Block/Strategic Alternative → Assets → Asset Mapping tab.

  2. Use the navigation tree on the left side of the screen to find more easily the asset you wish to modify by reaching the relevant entity (Division → Site → Sub-industry → Category).

  3. Once you found the asset you want to modify, check in Asset Mapping grid whether you can see a column named Depr. Years between the Std. Life and Retired columns. If not, go to this article to know how to make it appear.

  4. Double-click in the cell in that column and indicate the number of years over which the asset's value should depreciate, and click Enter.

If the depreciation period is 10 years, you don't have to worry about it when adding assets. Weissr applies a 10-year depreciation period to all assets by default.
